Desert Kid Coffee

While this specialty roastery, launched by two Coachella Valley locals and BFFs (hence the name), is relatively new to the java scene, it’s already a hit—and one sip of its stellar espresso drinks paired with the stylish modernist aesthetic and genuinely friendly service makes it easy to see why. The sprawling 5,400-square-foot space features ample seating, a garage door that opens onto a comfortable patio and a glass wall offering a peek inside the roastery, where all of the coffee is roasted onsite. Add in specialty-grade coffee and house-made pastries and baked goods, and you have a spot that practically begs you to sit, sip and stay awhile. With plenty of room to spread out, it’s become one of my favorite places in the desert for a coffee meeting—or just a really good cup of coffee.
